AGQ Student Conference
We are pleased to share details of the second AGQ CDT Conference, taking place on 9–10 November 2026 in Glasgow. We look forward to welcoming you to the event. Please find further information below, including details on registration and the programme when it is announced.
Location: University of Glasgow, Glasgow Student Union
Date and time: 9:30 am 9th November – 5:30pm 10th November 2026
Description:
The AGQ Student Conference is a two day event where early career researchers can share their work and make new connections. We will have plenary talks from Postdocs and PhD students from across the spectrum of topics in Algebra, Geometry and Quantum Fields. There will also be breakout sessions, where attendees can choose between breakout rooms in each of the three areas, with opportunity to move between the rooms. Finally for the mathematical content, there will be poster sessions where PhD students can present their research to their fellow students. Further, there will be a Careers Panel: attendees can ask any careers-related questions to the panelists, whose career paths cover academia, industry, outreach and teaching. Lastly, there will be a conference dinner on the night of the 10th, followed by a ceilidh!
How to register:
If you would like to attend, please complete the relevant registration form by the 11th of October. In the form you can indicate if you wish to submit a poster and if you wish to register interest to give a 25 minute breakout talk. We highly encourage every participant to submit a poster, even if you feel like you do not have much to present. The point of the poster session is to share your research with your fellow students and connect over shared ideas, so it does not need to showcase a finished project. Speakers for the breakout session will be allocated a slot in either the Algebra, Geometry, or Quantum Fields breakout room, depending on where their work best fits. They will be selected with the goal to have an equal split between the rooms and to have diversity of topics within the rooms themselves.
Subject to venue capacity, we are also pleased to extend the invitation to PhD students from nearby universities. If you wish to apply for travel funding and/or accommodation, please indicate so in the registration form and we will get back to you in due course.
For students in Edinburgh, there is the option of coach transport to and from Glasgow on both days.
