    Speaker(s):

    Dear all,

    The Groups, Geometry, and Topology (GGT) seminar will take place Tuesday (not Wednesday!) at 11am; details below. There will also be a short pre-talk
    at 10am
     by the speaker in the same room. On Wednesday afternoon there will instead be a meeting of the NBGGT network, details here: https://alexmartinmaths.github.io/nbggt/

    Speaker: Luis Paris

    Location: Heriot-Watt campus, CMT01

    Title: A cube complex for virtual Artin groups

    Abstract: Work in collaboration with José Gálvez Mateos. A virtual Artin group associated with a Coxeter graph is a group that contains copies of the Artin and Coxeter groups of that graph, linked by relations that mimic the action of the Coxeter group on its root system. The main example of such a group is the virtual braid group, introduced by Kauffman in the late 1990s. Our goal is to explain how to construct a connected and simply connected cube complex on which such a group acts, and to determine when this complex is CAT(0).

    Hope you can join,
    Alessandro and Matt
